The Rise of Video Games during COVID-19
E-sports have recently recorded an exceptional increase in user and sales growth. In most cases, however, the main cause for free time is of course COVID-19 or to us known as the Corona Virus. According to the estimates of the global “gaming” business model, the video game market is expected to exceed 159 million euros to date, which is 8 million more than last year.
We can remember the first wave of infections and the first assigned quarantines very well, but the situation is not calming down, it is continuing, which is, of course, water to the mill for video game manufacturers. For example, the video game Call of Duty: Warzone, which was released on March 10, 2020 and has recorded over 60 million users to date, but this is just one of many games.
The year 2020 is perfect for video game makers, as the chance of buying a game is much higher because of the consequences caused by the virus. This year, there are many new games and updates of older ones – existing ones. One of the older ones that has undergone major updates is Minecraft. This game has been constantly recording new players from the beginning, and this year the number has increased enormously. From 2011 to 2019, Minecraft recorded 91 million, and today 126 million users shorten their time with this game.
Minecraft is owned by the manufacturer Mojang from Sweden. The game is set on a three-dimensional platform, on which the user is free to build new worlds to walk on. It is available as a mobile as well as a computer and console version. Minecraft is supposed to be considered a child’s play, but things just aren’t what they seem at first glance. Playing and surviving an avatar is a task that requires quite a bit of perseverance. A true experience of the game begins while playing with friends or other players, as group work makes it easier to progress and create.
The game became a real sensation, and with it popular products in various shapes and images, such as backpacks and ather stuff from gift program.
